FRANCE MAKE IT

France made up from their 1st leg match against Ukraine that saw the French team losing 2-0 but weeks later they secured their place into the 2014 World Cup in a dramatic 2nd leg in which France won 3-0.

Unfortunately for Gael Clichy he is nothing more than a substitute player for Didier Deschamps who prefers choosing Eric Abidal and Mamadou Sakho ahead of the Manchester City player and even with his club he has not made any significant impact that can permanently secure his position in the Premier League club as he plays in 1 match and the next week is he is being sidelined.

Manchester City skipper Kompany to miss more action

Premier League giants Manchester City hasn’t been having the best of seasons so far, sitting at seventh in the table with sixteen from their opening nine games, just ahead of fierce neighbors and rivals Manchester United. And their woes have been compounded with news coming in that star defender and influential skipper Vincent Kompany set to miss the 2012 champions’ next three games due to an injury.

CLICHY RUES SEASON

Gael Clichy has said that the last season was one of the worst for Manchester City because they failed to win any title.

They were knocked out from the first phase of the Champions League. In the Premier League, they ended at no. 2 in the points table with only 78 points in 38 matches and then, in the final of the FA Cup, they were defeated by Wigan Athletic by 0-1.

QUESTIONS TO ANSWER

There have been a lot of questions asked about the future of the Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, but the assistant manager at the club David Platt feels that the Italian is the right manager for the club. Mancini is widely expected to lose his job if City fail to win the FA Cup this season.

The club are already 15 points behind the archrivals Manchester United with no hope of retaining the Premier league title. Even though Mancini has managed to guide City to 2 trophies in the last three seasons, many feel that his time at the Etihad stadium is up.

CITY BEAT WATFORD

Manchester City has defeated Watford in a FA Cup match played at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. City won the match quite comfortably by 3-0. With this win, City has made its way into the fourth round of the competition.

Mario Balotelli was left out of the starting line up after his animated conversation with the manager Roberto Mancini while training. Carlos Tevez made a comeback to the starting XI.

On the other hand, the manager of Watford, Gianfranco Zola, made a couple of changes in the starting line up. Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra were given the opportunity to start.

CLICHY IS A DOUBT

The French left back Gareth Clichy has emerged as a major doubt for the crunch Champions League match with Real Madrid in the midweek action for Manchester City.

The Premier league champions face a tough fight in order to qualify for the next stage of the competition. They have never qualified for the last 16 stage having been knocked out in the group stages last season as well.

DESCHAMPS UNSURE ON CLICHY

The manager of French national football team, Didier Deschamps, has said that Gael Clichy and Abou Diaby might not be able to feature for the French team in the World Cup qualifying match against Belarus as both the players are not likely to get 100% fit before the match.

A NEW EXPERIENCE

The Manchester city defender Gael Clichy has said that it is definitely a new experience for him to be part of title winning team that looks to defend the title. Even though Gael Clichy spent many seasons at Arsenal, he was not a first-team regular in a team that had won the title.

Manchester city won the Premier league title last season in Gael Clichy's first season with the club after coming on as a £ 15 million signing from Arsenal. The French defender has said that it is definitely offers great pressure on him, but it is pressure that he enjoys at the moment.

FRANCE MUST BEAT SWEDEN

Manchester City defender Gael Clichy has said that the feeling of an international tournament will only start for France if they beat the Swedish final group game of the Euro 2012.

France will be going into the tournament as one of the favourites to win the title, but they have started the group games with a draw against England and a hardfought victory over Ukraine. As a result, only a victory against Sweden will feel like a real start the tournament according to Manchester city defender Clichy, who has managed to replace Patrice Evra in the left back position for his country.
