DESCHAMPS UNSURE ON CLICHY

The manager of French national football team, Didier Deschamps, has said that Gael Clichy and Abou Diaby might not be able to feature for the French team in the World Cup qualifying match against Belarus as both the players are not likely to get 100% fit before the match.

Both Clichy and Diaby are suffering from muscle pains, similar to those experiences by Luis Suarez. Diaby was the hero of France’s victory over Finland in the team’s opening World Cup qualifying match on 7th of September. France won that match by 1-0 and Diaby was the only player who had found the net for the French team.

As per Deschamps, Diaby is in very good nick at the moment and the team management wants him to play in the match against Belarus. But, he is feeling a lot of pain in his muscles and he is not in the condition to play. According to the team doctors, he needs to rest for some days. This means that the team would have to go into the match without Diaby which is a huge disappointment.

On being asked about the fitness of Olivier Giroud who had missed the Finland match due to injury, Deschamps said that Giroud has regained 100% fitness and he is ready to make a comeback. He is an experienced campaigner and there is a good possibility of him being included in the first XI against Belarus.

On being asked about Karim Benzema who hasn’t been in the best of nicks recently, Deschamps said that Benzema is a class player and there is nothing much to worry about his form. He has put up some brilliant performances for his country in the past and he is too good a player to remain out of form for a long time. He has enormous abilities and he would definitely play well against Belarus.
